Week 1 | Thurgood Marshall

Things To Think About

Consider the value to an organization of having diverse experience and perspectives represented. For more than 125 years of U.S. Supreme Court decisions, only the perspectives and experiences of white, Christian, men shaped law. How does law need to change in order to reflect the experiences and perspectives of women, people of African, Native American, Asian, Pacific Island and Latinx descent, those who are poor, non-Christians, those with physical and emotional challenges?

  • What Can I Do?
  • Be suspicious of the presence of bias in law toward an exclusive white, male, economically advantaged, able-bodied Christian range of perspectives.
